Detective Police has arrested Mohammad Sumon Mia, a member of Ward No. 3 of Brahmanpara Upazila Shasidal Union, on the charge of passing the initiation of former influential Comilla Member of Parliament Bahauddin Bahar and his daughter Tahsin Bahar, former Mayor of Comilla City Corporation to India. He was arrested on Wednesday night.

Former MP Bahar and his daughter Suchana were illegally crossed by Suman Mia through Nabiabad border of Rajapur Union of Comilla's Burichong Upazila. After being smuggled across the border to India, screenshots of Suman member's mobile phone video call went viral on social media. After the publication of that picture in various media, there was a huge uproar in the country and in India.

Comilla Police Intelligence Branch OC Sajjad Karim Khan said, a team of Comilla conducted a special operation in all police stations of Comilla district. Based on intelligence information, Mohammad Sumon Mia (36), son of Ali Ashraf, son of Dakshin Tetabhumi village of Shasidal union of Brahmanpara upazila, accused in the Kotwali model police station case, was arrested from Harimangal Bazar of Shasidal union of Brahmanpara police station.

Shasidal Union Chairman Atiqul Islam Riyad could not be found in the office and despite several calls on his mobile phone, he did not pick up the call.
