Own Correspondent, Gazipur: Killed in two separate raids in Kaliganj of Gazipur. A woman drug dealer named Rehena Begum (59) has been arrested by Thana police. On the other hand, Hare Ram (40), a fish business in Kaliganj market, has been fined Tk 5,000 as part of the mother hilsa conservation campaign. Also, 16 kg of jellied prawns were seized from the said fishmonger .
On Thursday (October 17) afternoon, the drug dealer was sent to jail through the Gazipur court. On the other hand, at the same time, the fishing business was fined.
The arrested female drug dealer Rehena is the wife of Hazrat Ali of Ward No. 5 Baligaon village of Kaliganj Municipality. Fined Hare Ram is a fish trader in Kaliganj market. His house is in Chandaiya village, Ward No. 6 of Kaliganj Municipality.

Alauddin said that on Wednesday (16 October) evening, based on secret information, police raided Baligaon village of Kaliganj municipal area. At that time, female drug dealer Rehena was arrested and 84 purias (250 grams) of ganja were seized from her. Later, he was sent to jail through the Gazipur court on Thursday afternoon in a drug case (No. 14) filed against him at the police station. The police officer also said that multiple cases are pending against the accused Rehena.

Kaliganj Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Abu Sama said, Kaliganj Upazila Fisheries Department launched an operation in Kaliganj market at noon. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Noori Tasmin Urmi conducted the mobile court at that time. A fish business in the market was fined Tk 5,000 under section 33 of the Fish and Fish Products (Inspection and Quality Control) Act, 2020 for selling lumpfish and prawns with jelly in the campaign. Also, 16 kg of shrimps with jelly worth approximately Tk 10,000 were seized from that fish trader. He also said that the seized shrimps with jelly were burnt in front of the public.
