Jumbangla Desk: Asif promised his old father and stepmother not to go to the procession. But the talented student of Satkhira, Asif Hasan (21), was shot dead while trying to save a colleague who was lying on the ground during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Two months and 11 days have passed since Asif's martyrdom, but the entire family is still in mourning over the untimely death of a motherless child. Raised by her stepmother Shireen Sultana from childhood, she still thinks her child is alive. He can't believe that he is dead. Still the old father Mahmud Alam and his stepmother are looking for the way, hoping that their child will return again.

It is known that Asif was born in Askarpur village of Debhata upazila, about 35 km from Satkhira city. Father Mahmud Alam (60) and stepmother Shireen Sultana (40). Asif's real mother Maryam Begum died. Among the five children of Mahmud Alam, the two youngest twins are Asif Hasan and Rakib Hasan. Asif is the elder of two twin brothers. His elder sister Maqsuda Akhter Munni (38), younger sister Moon Nahar Parveen (32) and younger sister Jasmine Sultana (25). All the sisters are married.

Asif's mother died in a road accident 11 years ago. Asif and his brothers and sisters grew up in the family of the stepmother from childhood. Asif Hasan passed HSC from Nalta Ahchania Residential College of Kaliganj Upazila. After that, he enrolled in the honors course of the English Department of Northern University in Dhaka. Asif Hasan was studying in the second year of honors at Uttara campus of the university. Last Eid al-Adha Asif came home. Asif's family became worried when the city of Dhaka was in turmoil over the anti-discrimination quota reform movement.

A minute before 12 noon on July 18, Asif and his sister-in-law Mun Nahar Parveen, a resident of Dhaka's Khilgaon area, spoke on a mobile phone. His sister wants to hear from him, brother, where are you? There are many gunshots. Asif then said to his sister, I am at the end of the procession, I will not have any problem. i am safe Firing blanks to disperse us. Sister Moon Nahar then told him, you should leave the procession and movement from the back. And he requested her not to stay there.

In the meantime, Asif told his sister, call me later. One of our brothers was shot. He wants to drink water. He should be fed water. Saying this, Asif called his comrades around and got busy to give water to the shot elder brother and to remove him from there and that was the last thing he said to his sister. Meanwhile, his sister is greeting him on the mobile phone. 1m 34s Asif talks to his sister, his sister said.

After that, his sister called him several times, but he did not pick up the phone. While trying to save his older brother who was shot, he also got shot and fell down. Asif Hasan, who was shot, was later taken by his comrades to Bangladesh Government Hospital in Kuwait, where Asif was declared dead.

His sister in tears, Moon Nahar, also said that Asif visited his house 12/14 days before his death. He stayed there for a few days. He then went to university. He said that he asked him to go to his house on Wednesday, July 17 during the shutdown. Asif said to his sister, how can you go if all the vehicles are closed. His sister then offered him to send a known bike from her area to fetch him. Asif did not agree to this.

At this time, he said in an emotional voice that Almighty Allah has written his death there. That is why he was martyred there.

Shireen Sultana, stepmother of Shaheed Asif Hasan said, I have raised Asif and Rakib from a very young age. I don't think I don't have Asif. It seems my Asif will come to me again.

He said with tears in his eyes, "My Asif loved to eat big vetki fish, parshe fish, shrimp fish and beef". He really wanted to eat these at home. He liked to eat these hot foods after cooking. I used to tell him many times, father, eat when you are cold. He used to tell me that he likes it hot. He can't accept that Asif is no more.

Asif's younger brother Rakib Hasan, a second year honors student of Satkhira Government College, said that since childhood we had a friendly relationship between the two twin brothers. What I did was done with the advice of the two brothers. I used to talk to him every day since the start of the quota movement. Last July 16, he went to the first movement. Then on July 18, he was shot and taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctor. Later, the news of Asif's death was confirmed by a call from Kuwait Maitri Hospital. The hospital authorities sent Asif's body home that night. The next day after the funeral, he was laid to rest in the family cemetery.

He also said, I always used to talk about the anti-quota movement with my brother. I also held many marches and rallies in Satkhira with the quota movement. My brother always asked me to be careful during the movement. Even the day before he died he told me that I am a bit scared because various messes are being raided. When did that catch me? While talking about his brother, he said at the time, I have lost my language.

Asif's younger uncle Mamun Hossain said that his death has cast a shadow of mourning on the entire Askarpur village. Our whole family is in mourning. Asif was not just my nephew he was like my friend. Asif and I worked together in consultation on various social functions in the village. He was a very social boy.

Shahid Asif's father Mahmud Alam said, I used to call Asif every two to three days and inquire about him. I asked him to come home. He said father don't worry about me, I am not going to movement. But I don't know when he joined the movement after losing his friends. I can't imagine not having Asif. His big wish was to get out of the university and go abroad. But I can't say what happened.

Speechless Asif's father said, "I have left the judgment of losing my child to Allah." Allah will judge the killers properly.

He also said that they did not get any help from anyone.-Bass
