Jumbangla Desk: The National Committee for Protection of Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources and Power Ports has demanded that energy criminals including ministers, state ministers, secretaries and advisors responsible for anti-national interest contracts and corruption be brought under justice.

The leaders of the committee made this demand at a seminar titled 'Outline of Fuel and Power Sector: Current Situation and Actions' at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Auditorium on Saturday (October 26) at 11 am.

The top leader of the committee, Prof. Anu Muhammad, said that this national committee started working against the export of gas. Bangladesh does not need nuclear power. Rampal, Rooppur to be cancelled. If it is not stopped, it will be a huge loss for Bangladesh. Some of this government were involved in the movement to protect the Sundarbans. Rampal was involved in the anti-coal movement. Hopefully, they will take this matter seriously.
He said, there is a difference between charcoal and mineral coal. The former prime minister once said that he used to brush his teeth with coal as a child. So coal will not do any harm. But the fact is that there is a difference between charcoal and mineral charcoal.
The speakers in the exchange meeting said that transparency, fairness, equity, rationality and accountability should be ensured at all stages of electricity and primary energy supply so that the people get electricity, primary energy and renewable energy services at the right price, size and value without interruption.
Jamaat wants President's resignation
At this time six point demands were presented by the National Committee for Protection of Oil Gas Mineral Resources and Power Port.
The demands are:
1. To protect the national interest, quick steps should be taken in the short term to reduce the price of electricity and energy;
2. Power and energy contracts and potential contracts under the previous government should be re-evaluated;
3. All energy crimes organized by authoritarian governments must be prosecuted;
4. Institutional reform of the power and energy sector and institutional capacity building for power sector planning;
5. Increase domestic gas extraction capacity, reduce dependence on imported gas and increase BAPEX's offshore gas extraction capacity;
6. Competitive bidding should be ensured by building the necessary infrastructure for renewable power generation.
