After being chased by the crowd, the thief left the truck full of railway sleepers and fled. The incident took place at the Auliyanagar station on the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway in the early hours of Friday morning.

Railway police said, gang of thieves was filling a minitruck with sleeper placed next to line 1 of Aulia Nagar railway station. After finding out, the night watchman of the market started shouting Nayan and Salam Dak. Hearing their call, the businessman of the station Asaduzzaman and the locals came forward and chased the band of thieves. After being chased by the crowd, the group of thieves fled leaving the truck full of sleepers.

According to the local people, it is believed that people in Gafargaon railway office may be involved in the incident of theft of sleepers. Because there have been cases of theft of sleepers from Auliyanagar station before.

Gafargaon railway outpost in-charge SI Karthik Chandra Roy said that goods including trucks have beenseized.

Mymensingh Railway Assistant Executive Engineer Akram Ali said that the local gang med Sohel Mia has filed a case at the police station as a plaintiff in the case of sleeper theft.
