Jumbangla Desk: Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus today urged the youth to be determined and dream to bring about a positive change in the country.

Addressing members of the NDC and FWC courses at his office in Tejgaon today, he said, 'I especially encourage the youth to make up their minds, think and dream. Dreams are the beginning of change. Dreaming will change. If you don't dream it will never happen.'

Pointing to the youth, Professor Yunus said, 'Ask yourself what can I do for the world? Once you know what you want to do, you can do it, because you have that power.'

He said, 'The young generation of the world is now the most powerful generation in the entire human history. 'Not because they are smart enough but because they have a lot of technology at their disposal.'

Referring to technology as Aladdin's ladder, the chief adviser said, 'If you look at the student revolution, it is all about technology. They could communicate with each other very quickly. They had no command structure.'

About the student-led revolution, he said, the young people of the country want to see a new Bangladesh.

He said that the youth are not politicians and they are not trying to get any political interest. But they want a new country for themselves.

Referring to world peace, the 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate said, "Most of the time, people kill each other in the name of peace."

He says, '…but we commit ourselves every day, in all our utterances and in all our visions. We want peace. Peace within countries, peace among all countries and global peace.'

Professor Yunus said he finds it very ironic that every government in the world has a Ministry of Defence, which is literally a Ministry of War, but no Ministry of Peace.

He asked, 'If your goal is peace, then shouldn't you have a ministry of peace?'

People have to defend themselves against attack - observing this, Professor Yunus insisted on having both a Ministry of Peace and a Ministry of War in the governments of the world.

He suggested the introduction of a peace attache on foreign affairs along with a defense attache.

The chief advisor says that it is a self-destructive planet. For 'we have done everything only to kill ourselves.'

Giving an example, he said, humans are destroying the environment to destroy the planet.

"We have created a wrong civilization – a self-destructive civilization," he said, noting that humans are destroying the planet every day.
