The Police Reforms Commission has recommended that political identity be removed in police verification, said Commission chief Safar Raj Hossain.
He said this to reporters after the first meeting of the Police Reform Commission at the home ministry adviser's office at the secretariat on Monday afternoon.
Safar Raj Hossain said that police verification is required for government, semi-government or bank jobs, this method of police verification has been done since 1928. It has been running for almost 96 years. Here are some types of questions and inquiries as per British Law Manual. This often leaves out many job seekers. Another common issue is whether any of the relatives are involved in politics and whether there is anyone who is against the state. It was thought of in British terms.
Recently there has been a complaint that someone's relatives are in politics but not in the government party, many of them were not given jobs because of these arguments. It has been seen that politically their aunt, fufa or someone else is involved in politics. They are out of a job if not a family member. We recommend to drop this practice.
He said, everyone's job is important from a bank guard to a clerk. Many times one can enter the job by changing the name. Later it may be found that he is involved in some crime. So verification is essential. In any case, I have recommended that you do not suffer in this police verification. There will be police verification but political considerations of relatives will not be considered.
Safar Raj Hossain said, we have discussed with all the members of the Police Reform Commission, Home Affairs Advisor. We started working from 6th of October. The commission is scheduled to submit its report on December 31 this year. We're about midway through. I have done some work in the initial stage. It can be called the final form of a draft.
He said, some of the things we are recommending can be implemented in a short time. Apart from this, there are some things which will take a long time to implement.
