Real Madrid eye Argentine star as Modric replacement

Croatian legend Luka Modric has announced the end of his

year journey with Real Madrid.

He will leave Los Blancos after the Club World Cup in June-July. However, Real have started the process of adding big names to the midfield. However, it is currently reported that they are not getting Enzo Fernandez, who they have their eyes on. As a result, Real are now going to reach out to another Argentine star!

Real Madrid's Modric - Argentine

Spanish outlet Fichages reported that Real Madrid are interested in signing Liverpool and Argentina midfielder Alexis McAllister as a replacement for Luka Modric, although the World Cup winner has become an integral part of Liverpool's squad under Arne Slott. The 39-year-old Croatian has recently announced that he will leave the club at the end of the summer.

According to another Spanish newspaper AS, McAllister, who had a thrilling season at Liverpool, is among the possible names to fill the void left by Modric at Real Madrid. However, it remains to be seen whether the All Reds will let go of the star who was named English Football Player of the Month for April. McAllister himself commented that he is currently having the 'best moment of his career' at Anfield.

All in all, it will not be easy for Real

to get the Argentine midfielder. Mac Allister is currently valued at €90 million on the transfer market. If someone buys him at that price, there is no doubt that Liverpool will be able to withdraw the full amount of their investment and profit. They signed the Albiceleste star from Brighton for €40.7 million in August 2023. But it may seem unlikely that Liverpool, who have won the league title, will let him go now. Their own son Trent Alexander-Arnold is already in the process of moving to Real.

The rumors of McAllister moving to the Spanish club are not new. Argentine media outlet TYC Sports also asked him about it. Although he did not say anything directly, he did not rule out the possibility of moving to Real Madrid, saying, "Should I read the rumors and news that are being spread about me? What is important to me is what is happening at the moment. As much as this club (Liverpool) likes me now, if one weekend goes badly, the interest will not be as great as it is now."

Real Madrid can't get Enzo Fernandez

Real Madrid were also eyeing Enzo amid the rumors about Mac Allister. However, yesterday, Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca dashed their hopes. He made it clear in a press conference, 'Enzo is our important player. Our captain and one of the players who leads the field. He has had a great season, next year can be even better. So, there are no rumors or discussions now. He is focused on us and that is what is important.'
