All the people of Bangladesh want elections.
The Election Commission is ready. So why is that preparation not being put to use?"

He made these remarks at a discussion meeting organized by Zia Parishad at the National Press Club on Saturday (May 31).
Alal said, today's government talks about reforms in words. It talks about small reforms, big reforms. These reforms were started by Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam. He was the first to raise questions about the Farakka Agreement at the United Nations. He raised it with the International Rivers Commission. The reforms were to give banned political parties a chance to participate in politics again. He developed the agricultural sector by cutting canals in different regions of Bangladesh. He made Bangladesh self-sufficient in food. He was the first to export manpower from Bangladesh.
Moazzem Hossain Alal said,
Ziaur Rahman was the first to show how to do international trade. He created the Village Defense Police with a combination of men and women. Today they talk about reforms. He looked at the 31 points given by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. There can be no bigger reform than the reforms he talked about.
Addressing the advisors, the former president of the Jubo Dal said, "I would humbly request the current advisors to think more deeply about what the consequences of insulting the citizens of the country could be."
Addressing the government,
he said, "The people of Bangladesh want elections. The Election Commission has said that they are ready for the elections. So why is that preparation not being put to use? Shake off whatever mentality is working among them (the government). Give importance to human rights. It is easy to hold martyred President Ziaur Rahman through slogans, but it is difficult to establish his actions by holding them in our hearts. If we cannot do that difficult task and hold him only through slogans, it will be an immediate reaction. He will not be respected."
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and leaders and activists from various levels of the organization were present as the chief guests at the event .
