National University admission test: Real picture of suffering due to waterlogging
Since the morning of Saturday, May 31, classrooms at the Dharmapur campus of Comilla Victoria College have been submerged in water. The ground floors of the Arts Building, Science Building-1, Science Building-2, Millennium Building and Economics Building have been flooded with knee-deep water. Candidates took their exams sitting in this water. Such a situation has arisen due to two consecutive days of heavy rain.
Students had to wade through knee-deep water to take part in the exams, crossing the main gate, Ashoktala Railgate area and three gates in Dharmapur. The mental and physical stress of the students has doubled due to this waterlogging. Although there is excitement over the resumption of the National University admission exam after eight years, the reality is much more disappointing.
Student-parent experience: Environment became an obstacle to exams
Achma Akhter from Laksam said, “I came to Victoria College with a dream to take the entrance exam, but I have suffered greatly due to waterlogging.” Khadija Akhter from Chauddagram shared a similar experience, saying, “The entire campus feels like an open water body.”
Not only the students but also
the parents are worried about this situation. Abdul Jabbar, a college teacher in Hasanpur, said, "I brought my daughter, but she fell ill after taking the exam in a room filled with water. Now we have to take her to the doctor."
Regarding this issue, the college's principal, Professor Md. Abul Bashar Bhuiyan, said, "The waterlogging problem is 20 years old. I have only been in charge for a few months. A plan has been taken and submitted to the Education Engineering Office."
