Big good news for MPO teachers

Big good news is coming for MPO-registered teachers and employees

private educational institutions.

MPO-registered teachers and employees can receive their outstanding salaries and increased Eid bonus before the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

BECAUSE

The Department of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHHE) confirmed this information on Wednesday (May 21), which brought relief to teachers.

Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Teachers' Education, Professor Dr. Muhammad Azad Khan, said that in view of the teachers' agitation, it has been decided to pay salaries and bonuses before the start of the Eid vacation (June 5). The arrears of salaries for April and the Eid-ul-Azha bonus may not come together, but there is a high possibility that the bonus will be released earlier.

The Ministry of Finance has approved a proposal to increase the Eid bonus of MPO teachers by 50 percent of their basic salary. As a result, teachers will receive this increased bonus from the upcoming Eid al-Adha. However, employees will receive the bonus under the previous rules.

Officials of the Department

of Secondary and Higher Education also said that Government Orders (GOs) have been issued for various stages of salary arrears from December to April, which also includes Baisakhi allowance. Teachers will soon receive their salary and allowances.

The salary proposal for the month of April was sent to the ministry on Sunday (May 18). On Wednesday (May 21), officials of the department and the Ministry of Education confirmed the issuance of the GO. They said that the outstanding salaries and allowances of 378,907 teachers and employees will be paid in the first phase of April, 1,242 in the seventh phase of December, 1,556 in the fourth phase of January, 1,573 in the third phase of February (partially) and 1,573 in the second phase of March (partially).

It is worth noting that while

government officials and employees receive their salaries and allowances through EFT, the salaries and allowances of MPO-listed teachers and employees working in private educational institutions were previously deducted through the analog method through four state-owned banks. Although many have started receiving their salaries through EFT, there are allegations that many teachers are suffering due to the negligence of the project employees working in the EMIS cell and the negligence of the upazila and district education officers.
