Mohammad Quader has described the budget proposal for the new fiscal year as "traditional" and believes that the number of hungry and undernourished people will increase due to it.

He said that the budget of the previous government has been roughly followed and the continuity of that budget has been maintained.

On Monday, Financial Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed presented a budget proposal of Tk 790,000 crore for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

Speaking at a press conference

at the Banani Chairman's political office on Tuesday to give his post-budget reaction, GM Quader said, "The budget can be considered as one of the main vehicles for reflecting and implementing the political philosophy of a government. As such, in our overall assessment, the current budget seems to be an accomplice of fascism and a reflection of the neo-fascist political philosophy."

Stating that there is nothing new in the budget, the Jatiya Party chairman said, "Routine work, budget has to be given, so it is given, maintaining traditional continuity. No significant deviation or reform is noticeable in this year's budget from the previous budget structure. However, the current budget is not implementable. The target of revenue collection that has been set is unrealistic or not even close to being achieved, in the current context."

"Until political stability

is achieved and the law and order situation is normalized, there is doubt about receiving foreign loans or aid. As a result, the size of the budget deficit will be very large and we believe that it will be a major problem for the government to meet many necessary expenses."

Claiming that there is no

relief for the lower and middle class in the budget, GM Quader said, "Due to the downward trend in growth, there will be a slowdown in employment and trade. The projected inflation target is not realistic. It does not seem possible to rein in inflation. As a result, the common people will go from poor to poorer."

Overall, he opined that this budget does not bring any good news or relief to the people of the country.
