It is learned that from next July,

the special incentive rate for government employees will increase from the existing 5 percent. In this case, officials and employees belonging to grades 10 to 20 will receive a total of 15 percent including this 5 percent, and officials belonging to grades 1 to 9 will receive a special incentive rate of 10 percent.


Finance Ministry officials confirmed this information to the media.

As a result of this increase, government employees in grades 1 to 9 will receive an additional 5 percent special incentive, and those in grades 10 to 20 will receive an additional 10 percent special incentive.

This will cost the government an additional Tk 7,000 crore.

Taking into account high inflation, the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced a special incentive of an additional 5 percent in addition to the annual 5 percent increment for government employees from July 2023, before the 2024 elections.

It is worth noting that in

his budget speech for the 2025-26 fiscal year, Financial Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed announced an increase in special incentives for government employees.

Salehuddin Ahmed said, "I am proposing to increase special benefits for government employees, taking into account the fact that there has been no salary structure since 2015."

According to the budget document,

in the 2025-26 fiscal year, the basic salary of government employees will be 13,342 crore taka, the salary of employees will be 30,010 crore taka. And the expenditure on various allowances of officers and employees will be 40,771 crore taka. Accordingly, a total of 84,114 crore taka has been allocated for the salary and allowances of government employees in the 2025-26 fiscal year budget.

In the revised budget for the current fiscal year 2024-25, the allocation for salaries of officers is 12,217 crore taka, for salaries of employees is 28,675 crore taka, and for allowances of officials and employees is 38,355 crore taka. While the original budget for the current fiscal year allocated 81,580 crore taka for this sector, it has been reduced to 79,247 crore taka in the revised budget.
