BNP leaders said that a 5-member partial convening committee was announced on February 2 this year. After a long three months, the full convening committee was announced. Earlier in 2017, a 21-member partial committee of Bandarban district BNP was announced with Mamaching as president and Javed Reza as general secretary.

Newly elected district BNP member secretary Jabed Reza said, "I thank BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and BNP central leaders for announcing the full-fledged convening committee of the district BNP after a long wait.
