RAB-2 has arrested three active members of an organized gang of thieves from the Dhaka Udyan area of Mohammadpur in the capital. A stolen battery-powered auto-rickshaw was recovered from them.
They were arrested from Dhaka Udyan in the capital on Wednesday (June 3) based on a secret tip-off.
The arrested are Md. Shahin Mia (25), Md. Kabir Mia (24) and Md. Sohel (20).
RAB said that on Wednesday night, based on secret information, they came to know that some members of an organized gang of thieves were staying in Dhaka Udyan area under Mohammadpur police station with the intention of selling stolen battery-powered auto-rickshaws. Later, a RAB-2 operation team conducted a raid in the area and arrested 3 people. At that time, 1 stolen battery-powered auto-rickshaw was recovered from them.
During the initial interrogation of the arrested accused, they said that they were active members of an organized gang of thieves and had been stealing rickshaws and battery-powered auto-rickshaws from different areas of the capital, including Mohammadpur and Adabor areas, for a long time in collusion and selling them elsewhere. They also admitted that they had been stealing auto-rickshaws from different parts of Dhaka city in a planned manner. RAB-2 will continue such operations in the future after verifying the important information obtained during the interrogation of the arrested accused.
Necessary legal action against the accused is under process.
