Fugitive accused arrested in Pornography

The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) has arrested a fugitive

accused in a case registered under the Pornography Control Act from Keraniganj in the capital.

Shirin Akhter Jahan, Superintendent of Police (Planning and Research) of the ATU's Media and Awareness Wing, confirmed this information on Thursday.

The arrested youth has been identified as Qurban Ali (25). He is a resident of Mamudalipur village under Bagharpara police station in Jessore district. A smartphone used in the crime was seized from him during the operation.

On Wednesday, a smart ATU team conducted a raid in the Brahmankitta area of ​​Keraniganj Model Police Station based on a secret tip-off and arrested him.

Shirin Akhter Jahan said that Qurban Ali had been harassing a female student seeking admission to a university in Batiaghata police station area of ​​Khulna district for a long time. When the victim rejected his love proposal, he got angry and collected her pictures and videos using various techniques. Later, he edited them to create obscene pictures and videos and threatened to spread them on various social media including WhatsApp and TikTok. When the victim requested him to refrain from these activities, Qurban Ali first demanded a large sum of money from her and later set a condition for establishing an immoral relationship.

He further said that helpless, the victim filed a written complaint through the ATU app. Later, the victim's brother filed a written complaint at Batiaghata Police Station. In view of this, the ATU arrested Qurban Ali with the help of information technology.

The police official also said that further legal action against the arrested accused is under process.
