Tk 2 crore to the police in Barhatta, Netrokona, after detaining them and guarding them overnight.

Local sources said that a truck carrying Indian sarees was coming towards Barhatta from Naihati Bazar in Chiram Union of Barhatta Upazila; on receiving such information, BNP leaders and activists set up a guard on the road. Later, at around 3 am, the truck was intercepted in front of the Kailati Government Primary School in the upazila and the police were informed. It is alleged that smugglers have

been using the Putakia-Naihati-Barhatta road in Chiram Union as a route. The village of Putakia is located at the junction of Barhatta and Kalmakanda in Netrokona and Dharampasha upazilas in Sunamganj district. Due to this, the road became easy for members of the Indian smuggling gang.

Asma Union BNP President Matiur Rahman said,

"We are not on the road after receiving information from various sources. At that time, Mizanur Selim, son of former Upazila BNP President Muktijoddha Rahmat Ali Talukder, Upazila Chhatra Dal member secretary Sajrul Islam Saju, Juba Dal's Ranju, Shahin, Sechchhasebak Dal's Chandan and many others were present. After the arrest, we informed the Upazila BNP President and General Secretary. Later, when we informed the police, they came and took the truck along with the goods to the police station.
