PART-1 #national Memorial
1. Architecture and significance of the memorial
The National Memorial, built in memory of the brave martyrs of the Bangladesh Liberation War, is located in Savar, Dhaka. It is built in the impeccable design of architect Syed Mainul Hossain. The main structure of the monument consists of seven pairs of triangular walls made of concrete, which gradually increase in size from the smallest to the largest, and the innermost wall is the highest in height. These seven pairs of walls indicate the seven important stages of the independence movement of Bangladesh: the 1952 Language Movement, the 1954 United Front elections, the 1958 anti-military rule movement, the 1962 Education Movement, the 1966 Six-Point Movement, the 1969 Mass Uprising and the Great Liberation War of 1971. This 150-foot-high monument appears to have different shapes from different angles, which makes its architectural features more unique. Although the main structure of the monument is made of concrete, red bricks have been used in other structures around it, which is considered a symbol of freedom achieved on the blood-stained soil.
