It has been raining heavily since Thursday morning in various parts of the country including Dhaka. The rain started from Wednesday evening onwards and is continuing continuously.

The Meteorological Department said that rain or thundershowers with a speed of 45 to 60 km per hour may occur over 17 regions of the country including Dhaka during the afternoon.

The river ports in these areas have been asked to show the number one warning signal.

This information is given in the weather forecast for the inland river ports of the country till 1 pm.


Meanwhile, according to the Meteorological Office, Chittagong received maximum rainfall of 120 mm from 12:00 pm on Wednesday to 6:00 am on Thursday.

On the other hand, Dhaka received 44 mm of rain during the same period. 114 in Cox's Bazar and 108 millimeters in Maizdi of Noakhali.

Day temperatures may drop by one to two degrees Celsius across the country and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged.

Meteorologists said the rains are due to upper-level cyclones that may develop into low pressure.

Due to its effect, there may be rain in different parts of the country on Thursday and Friday.

The weather forecast said that the rains may reduce from Saturday.

According to a weather warning, deep convective clouds have formed over North Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Bangladesh under the influence of active monsoon. Under its influence, gale force winds may blow over the coastal areas of Bangladesh, North Bay of Bengal and sea ports.

For this reason Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to show warning signal number 3. Besides, fishing boats and trawlers stationed in North Bay of Bengal have been asked to approach the coast with caution until further notice.
