Indian new potatoes are entering Bangladesh through Hili

potatoesJumbangla Desk: Due to the demand in the country's market, the import of Indian new potatoes has started at Hili land port in Dinajpur.

On Thursday (October 3) afternoon, M/s Sumaiya Enterprises, an importing company, imported 22 metric tons of new potatoes in a truck from India.

Saiful Islam, importer of Hili land port, said, 'The season of potato cultivation in the country has not yet started. But new potatoes are available in the Indian market. As a result, there is a demand for this new potato in the country's market. So it is being imported. I hope to get the price of 70 taka per kg in the wholesale market. This is the first time that 22 metric tons of new potatoes have been imported from India in a single truck.

He also said that the shipment of imported Indian potatoes will be available in the markets of Dhaka including Hilli from Friday (October 4) if cleared from customs by night.-UNB
