Own Correspondent, Gazipur: A Jubo League leader named Mamunur Rashid Titu (35) has been arrested by the police in connection with the shooting of students in Tongi, Gazipur during the anti-discrimination student movement .

Police arrested Titu from Pagar area of Tongir early on Friday (October 05). The matter was confirmed by Tongi East Police Officer-in-Charge SM Mamunur Rashid in the evening.
Arrested Jubo League leader Mamunur Rashid Titu is the son of deceased Ismail Hossain of Pagar area of Tongir. He is the acting president of Ward No. 43 Jubo League of Gazipur city.
According to the police, on July 20, the activists of Awami League and affiliated organizations attacked and fired at the anti-discrimination student movement in the Collegegate area of Tongir. Several people were injured. Among the injured, protesting student Nayan Hossain (20) was shot in the leg. Nayan's father, Zakir Hossain, who was injured in the incident, named 79 people and identified another 100 as unknown persons, filed a case at Tongi East Police Station on August 18. Police arrested Jubo League leader Titu as a suspected accused in this case.
