The government has reconstituted the committee responsible for selecting films for government grants. Adviser to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Nahid Islam, is the president of this reconstituted committee for selecting films with maximum transparency and professionalism.
Monday (October 7) Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. A notification signed by Saiful Islam informed about this committee of 10 members. The Additional Secretary (Films) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is the member secretary of the committee.
Besides, the other members of the committee are the secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the managing director of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), the teacher and actor-director of the Department of Theater and Performance Studies of Dhaka University. Abul Bashar Md. Ziaul Haque (Titas Zia), Filmmaker and Producer Khan Sharfuddin Mohammad Akram (Akram Khan), Filmmaker and Screenwriter Nargis Akhtar, President of Rainbow Film Society Ahmed Mujtaba Jamal, Producer and Editor Sameer Ahmed, Actress Zakia Bari Mom.
In order to encourage talent and creativity in the film industry and to promote the existing culture of Bangladesh, government grants for the year 2024-25 under the 'Government Grants for Full-Length Film Production Policy-2020 (Revised)' for the purpose of providing government support and assistance to the production of full-length films are stated in the notification. The government reconstituted the 'Full-length Film Grants Committee' to examine and decide on package proposals received at the target.
