Jumbangla Desk: According to the promise given to the Consumer Rights Protection Department, some egg producing companies will supply 2 million eggs to Kaptan Bazar and Tejgaon Bazar on Wednesday night. As an initiative to reduce the level of middlemen in egg marketing, the egg producing companies themselves will deliver these eggs to the consumers.

Mahbubur Rahman, president of Breeders Association of Bangladesh, the organization of entrepreneurs of the poultry industry, confirmed this news to the media on Wednesday (October 16).
By delivering the eggs to the wholesale market, each egg will be sold at 10 taka 91 paisa in the wholesale market. Then those eggs will be sold at the consumer level for 12 taka. As a result, the consumer rights protection department and market stakeholders believe that the fixed price of eggs will be implemented.
On the other hand, the Directorate of Agriculture Marketing has recently fixed the 'reasonable price' of eggs. The price of each egg is fixed at 10 taka 58 paisa at the producer level, 11 taka 01 paisa at the wholesale level and 11 taka 87 paisa at the retail level (142 taka 44 paisa per dozen).
Last Tuesday (October 15) a meeting was held at the office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection regarding the price and supply of eggs. The meeting was attended by egg producers, wholesalers and stakeholders associated with supply.
In that meeting, it was decided that from now on, large egg producing companies and small farmers will send eggs directly to the wholesale hatchery at the price set by the government. There will be no middlemen in between. And it will be effective from Wednesday (October 16).
'They will throw corpses in every lane so that no one dares to come forward'
