Science and Technology Desk: Smartphone is now a daily companion of our life. Apart from the important tasks, smartphone has now become a great help in spending idle time. During long journeys or long waiting moments, we may play games, read books or do other things on our smartphones. In these cases, it is often seen that the charge of the phone is almost at the end, but we are still using the phone.

The question is, is there any damage to the phone if it works at a low charge?

The answer is, low charge does not cause any major damage to the phone. But regular such practice can create some problems.
Today's smartphones use lithium-ion batteries. They work according to specific charging cycles.

If the phone's battery repeatedly drops to 20% or below, it's still a bit risky to work on the phone. This can reduce battery life.

Phone performance may slow down on low charge, as the phone's processor goes into low power mode. As a result, less energy is used.

Then it becomes difficult to work.

The less the phone charges, the more power it consumes. As a result, excess heat is generated and the phone may overheat.
So it is better not to drop the battery charge below 20%-30%. It maintains the longevity of the battery.

It is safe to use the phone between 40%-80% charge.
