University of Florida food safety professor and researcher Keith R. Snyder said cooked rice can be kept in the refrigerator for four to six days. However, how long rice will last in the fridge depends on several factors. The correct answer to the question depends on how it was cooked, how long it was at room temperature, and even what container you put it in. Cooking an entire rice cooker's worth of rice and piling it into small boxes won't last very long. If you are elderly or pregnant, do not refrigerate rice for more than two to four days.

If the rice has a foul odor or visible discoloration, do not eat that rice. Similarly, do not eat rice even if it looks hard and dry after taking it out of the fridge.

Refrigerated rice tastes just like fresh rice when reheated properly. Before heating the rice in the microwave, sprinkle a little water on top. If you want to heat it in the oven, you can heat the rice in a pan with a little cooking oil or butter. Add some water while heating. But do not reheat the rice taken out of the fridge. Heat properly and consume immediately.
