International Desk: The minimum wage for workers in Malaysia is 1700 ringgit. The country's government has agreed to increase the minimum wage from 1500 to 1700 ringgit from 1 February 2025 . Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim gave this information while presenting the budget 2025 in the national parliament on Friday.

Earlier in 2022, then Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yacob announced a minimum wage rate of 1,500 ringgit per month starting May 1.

This time in the Parliament, the Prime Minister also said that the employers of less than five workers will be delayed for six months till August 1, 2025.


The Prime Minister who is also the Finance Minister. He said the Ministry of Human Resources will also release a guide for starting salaries for industrial and production technicians (RM2,290), mechanical engineers (RM3,380) and professional creative content designers (RM2,985).

The Prime Minister said following the pilot program for progressive wage policy in June. It will be fully implemented next year. 50000 workers will benefit from the budget of 200 million.

Anwar said 250 million ringgit will be allocated to the People's Income Initiative (IPR) to eradicate extreme poverty.
