10 people, including husband, were injured in an attack by the relatives of the first wife while the wife was going to another marriage at the Sadullapur upazila house of Gaibandha. This incident happened on Friday evening in Fakir Para village of Rasulpur Union of Sadulyapur Upazila. Later, when the matter reached the police station, the incident was settled with an agreement to pay the dowry of the first wife.

Long ago Shafiqul Islam (25), son of Zahidul Islam of that village, married a woman named Parveen Khatun (20). Shafiqul divorced his wife when there was a dispute between them. The conflict between the two families had been going on for a long time.

At one stage of this, Shafikul's second marriage took place in Patilyakura-Chakdaria (Uttaparpara) village of Jamalpur Union. On Friday evening, Shafiqul Islam left for Microyoga with his family for this second marriage. On the way, Parveen and his men attacked when they reached the place called Fakirpara.

In this, 10 people including groom Shafiqul were injured.

In January 2022, Shafiqul Islam of Rasulpur (Madhyapara) got married to Parveen, daughter of Jahangir Alam of Fakirpara village. A debt of four lakh taka was paid. Almost two and a half years passed in their married life. Shafiqul divorced his wife three months ago due to family conflict. Shafiqul Islam did not pay the dowry money even though the divorce was granted.

Parveen Khatun said, Shafiqul Islam divorced me after two and a half years of marriage. Almost three months after the divorce, my dowry money has not been paid. Shafiqul was stopped on his way to get married for the second time without paying this money.

Rasulpur Union Parishad (UP) member Chhaper Ali said that ex-wife Parveen blocked Shafiqul's demand for her dowry. In this regard, SI Shafiqul Islam of Sadullapur Police Station said that on receiving information, groom Shafiqul Islam was rescued from the scene and taken to the police station.

OC Md. Tajuddin Tajuddin Khandkar said, after bringing to the police station, both parties sat down. The matter was resolved by an agreement to pay the dowry as demanded by the first wife and to repay what was given during the marriage.
