Jumbangla Desk: As the low pressure continues, there is a glimpse of a low pressure again in the Bay of Bengal. Meteorologists fear that it may turn into a cyclone. The potential cyclone has been named 'Dana'. It can hit the country's land with a maximum wind speed of 130 kilometers per hour, said meteorologist Mustafa Kamal Palash, a PhD researcher in meteorology and climate at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.
On Saturday (October 19) in a post from his verified ID on the social media Facebook, this PhD researcher on weather and climate gave such information. Along with that, he said, possible cyclone 'Dana' could hit any coastal area between Odisha state of India and Noakhali district of Bangladesh.
Meteorologist Mustafa Kamal Palash said that if the possible cyclone wing hits the coast of the Indian state of Orissa, its wind speed may be 140 to 160 kilometers per hour. Also, if it hits the coast of the neighboring state of West Bengal, its speed can reach 140 to 150 km per hour.
However, if the possible cyclone wing hits the coast of Khulna division of Bangladesh, its wind speed may be 120 to 130 km per hour, said meteorologist Mustafa Kamal Palash, Ph.D. researcher on meteorology and climate. Besides, if it hits the coast of Barisal division of Bangladesh, its speed can be 110 to 120 km per hour.
On the other hand, meteorologist Mustafa Kamal Palash also gave an idea about the possible height of the tide if the possible cyclone 'Dana' hits. He said, under the influence of the possible cyclone, the tide may be 5 to 8 feet higher than normal (at high tide) and 2 to 5 feet higher than normal (at low tide) in Satkhira, Khulna, and Bagerhat districts. Besides Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola there may be 3 to 5 feet higher than normal (high tide) and 1 to 3 feet higher than normal (low tide).
In addition, Noakhali and Chittagong may experience 3 to 5 feet more than normal (tide time) and 2 to 3 feet more than normal time (low tide). And due to the impact of the possible cyclone, the tide may be 2 to 4 feet higher than normal (at high tide) and 1 to 3 feet higher than normal (at low tide) in Cox's Bazar.
Palash said, according to the latest forecast obtained from weather forecasting models of the United States and the European Union, the possible cyclone is expected to hit the coast of India's West Bengal and Bangladesh's Khulna division after midnight on October 23 to midnight on October 24. It is expected to move along almost the same path as Cyclone 'Amphan' made landfall. That is, the possible cyclone wing is expected to hit the coast of Mednipur and South Twenty-four Parganas districts of West Bengal and Satkhira and Khulna districts of Bangladesh.
