Sports Desk: According to the announcement of the West Indies Cricket Board, the franchise teams of five countries are going to participate in the Global Super League organized for the first time. Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) team Rangpur Riders will also participate in this competition along with Guyana Amazon Warriors. The tournament will run from November 26 to December 7.
Rangpur Riders have already announced their 13-man squad for the Global Super League. 9 Bangladeshi cricketers and 4 foreigners have been kept in the team. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of joining the US top order batsman Steven Taylor. Ahead of the 11th season of BPL, most of the players in the Rangpur squad have been prioritized in the Global Super League.
Apart from captain Nurul Hasan Sohan and all-rounder Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, the Rangpur team includes Mohammad Saifuddin, Nahid Rana, Saif Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Rishad Hossain and Afif Hossain among the domestic cricketers. Besides, left arm spinner Arafat Sunny and pacer Kamrul Islam Rabi are also in the squad.
Among the foreign players who will play for Rangpur Riders are West Indian all-rounder Matthew Ford, UK top-order batsman Wayne Madsen and pacer Jack Chappell and US left-arm spinner and batsman Harmeet Singh.
All matches of the competition will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Each team will face each other in the group stage of the tournament, and the finals on December 7 will mark the first season of the Global Super League.
