A New York Times report earlier last week claimed that some North Korean soldiers had been killed in a limited skirmish with Russian and Ukrainian forces. On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that North Korean troops stationed in Russia's Kursk region are fighting against Kiev on the battlefield. Clashes on both sides resulted in casualties.

This news was reported by the US media CNN in a report on Friday (November 8).

Zelensky said 11,000 North Korean troops are in the region, which has halted Ukraine's three-month military incursion into Russian territory.

"11,000 North Korean soldiers or North Korean army troops are currently present on the territory of the Russian Federation on the border with Ukraine in the Kursk region in the north of our country," Zelenskiy told reporters at the European Political Community conference in Budapest, Hungary on Thursday.

He also said, 'Some of these soldiers have already taken part in hostilities against the Ukrainian military. Yes, losses have already been incurred, that is the reality'.

The situation in Ukraine is expected to change quickly with the victory of the Republican candidate Donald Trump in the US elections. Because Trump has been talking about stopping this war. It is believed that due to Trump's policy of silence, Russia will be able to retain the occupied Ukrainian territory. Especially the regions of Donbass and Crimea are likely to remain in Russian hands.

However, Ukrainian authorities believe that Trump's return for a second term will make Russia more powerful to carry out aggression. As time goes on, Kiev is under intense pressure on the front line against Russia. Meanwhile, Ukraine's army chief warned that his forces were "facing the strongest Russian attack" since the start of the war.
