Jumbangla Desk: A newborn died due to wrong treatment at the private Naqib Uddin Hospital in Jamalpur. Allegations have been made against the hospital director, nurses and midwives due to improper treatment of the newborn during normal delivery.
The incident took place at Naqib Uddin Hospital in Jamalpur city on Wednesday (November 13) around 4 pm.
Relatives of the newborn complained that Roompa Moni Mim, wife of Maruf Hossain, a resident of Tetulia area of Jamalpur Municipality, was admitted to Naqib Uddin Hospital with labor pains around 10:30 am on Wednesday. However, no gynecologist was present in the hospital at that time. Meanwhile, hospital director Shamsuzzaman Salim, with the help of nurses and midwives, took the pregnant woman to the operation theater around 12 noon. A natural delivery was attempted for about 4 hours, and the infant died of head trauma while dragging the newborn out.
Shamsuzzaman Salim, director of the hospital and doctor of the anesthesia department, said, "We asked the relatives of the patient to perform a caesarean section on our behalf, but they did not get any information that they have now said."
In this regard, Jamalpur police station OC Anisur Ashekin said that the police went to the spot after receiving the news of the newborn's death. However, so far no written complaint has been made to the police station. Necessary action will be taken if complaints are received.
