Jumbangla Desk: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's family is an important chapter in the politics of Bangladesh. The Awami League built by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after many ups and downs was in power for 15 and a half years after coming back to power in 2009. At this time, there was no dearth of crowds of loyalists including party leaders in front of the houses of most of the Sheikh family members to get a taste of power.

However, after the fall of the Awami League government in the student uprising on August 5, the scenario has completely changed.

There is no previous presence of activists in front of the house of Sheikh family members. Now there is a quiet silence in the houses facing the movement of activists. The representatives visited several houses of Sheikh family members on the ground in Dhaka, Barisal and Khulna and found such images. Details from Kal Kantha report-

Sheikh Hasina

Awami League President and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband Wazed Mia's house is located in Lakepar of Dhanmondi in the capital.

However, no one lived in the house for a long time. But it was under special security as the house of former prime minister's husband. Traffic in front of the house was limited due to security reasons. No one was allowed to enter that road unless necessary.

Opposite the house was a temporary police camp. At present the police camp does not exist. Security measures have also been lifted.
However, when Sheikh Hasina fled the country in the uprising of students on August 5, the angry crowd vandalized and set fire to this house named Sudha Sadan. They also took out the things from the house.

Sheikh Rehana

Sheikh Hasina's younger sister Sheikh Rehana's house is in the capital's Gulshan. The house was allocated from the government at a price of one thousand one rupees. As the Bangabandhu Family Special Security Act has been repealed, the owner of this house is currently owned by the state. In 2009, Sheikh Rehana was allotted a house in Gulshan with an area of one and a half bigha under a special law.

It is known that Sheikh Rehana used to spend his free time at that house in Gulshan. After the fall of the Awami League government, the house was attacked and destroyed. The house was once surrounded by several layers of security. Presently there is only silence around the house. The three security posts guarding the house are currently empty. Earlier there was additional traffic management to reduce traffic congestion in front of the house. Now there are no traffic members. A few private cars and rickshaws were seen parked in front of the house. And the main gate of the house is locked. If you look inside from a distance, you can understand that no one has entered inside for a long time. The empty space in front of the house is covered with several layers of foliage.

Sheikh Salim

Sheikh Salim, another member of the Sheikh family, lived in Banani of the capital. In front of his house, it was found that the main gate was closed. Called for a long time to find out if anyone was inside the house but no response was received. After looking over the boundary wall, it was seen that no one was inside the house. Hossain Miah, the doorman of the neighboring house, said that although Sheikh Selim's family lived in the house, no one came to that house after August 5. The house was also attacked after the coup. Garbage was removed a few days ago. But there is no one inside now.

'Brother's House' in Barisal

Seral. A remote village in Agailjhara upazila of Barisal. In this village there is a two storied house surrounded by a high wall. Although there is no official name, the house is popularly known as 'Bhaier Bari' across Barisal Division. It is the home of Abul Hasanat Abdullah, cousin of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Hasanat was addressed as 'brother' by the activists.

When he came to Barisal, he lived in this village house. At that time, the house was busy with the movement of activists till midnight. There was a special police security system on the road. During the last 15 years of power, Hasanat controlled 15 of the 21 parliamentary seats in this house. From Minister-MP to UP Chairman used to come to this house. All political activities from the distribution of Awami League posts in Barisal region were conducted from the house. Hasanat left the country before the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. Since then the house has been haunted.

Khulna's popular 'Shekhbari'

The movement of people and vehicles started before dawn. Administration officials, members of law and order forces appeared in turn. There was the presence of leaders and activists. The house is the popular 'Shekhbari' of Khulna. The house is located on Sherebangla Road in the city. Sometimes the children of Sheikh Abu Nasser stayed in the house. Former Member of Parliament for Bagerhat-1 Constituency Sheikh Helal Uddin, former Member of Parliament for Khulna-2 Constituency Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, former BCB Director Sheikh Sohail Uddin and businessman Sheikh Abdullah Rubel. Besides them, former MP of Bagerhat-2 constituency Sheikh Sarhan Naser Tanmoy also used to come to that house sometimes.

The discussed 'Shekhbari' is currently abandoned. No noise. The house was vandalized, set on fire and looted several times on August 4 and 5. On August 4 and 5, the anger that had been burning for a long time among the people came out. People still make negative comments while passing the road in front of the house.

However, two months after the house was set on fire, one day in the dark of night, someone blocked the broken gate with tin. As a result no one can enter now.
