Ishraq calls on advisors Asif and Mahfuz to resign

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain has called on Advisor Asif

Mahmud and Advisor Mahfuz Alam

to resign from all responsibilities in the interim government.Mahfouz

He made this call in a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday (May 21) morning.

In the post, Ishraq Hossain wrote, 'In democratic language, following political etiquette, and for reasonable reasons, I call on Advisor Asif Mahmud and Advisor Mahfuz Alam to resign from all responsibilities of the interim government. Since it is apparent that you are associated with a political party, perhaps you will be directly involved in the future. It is also quite clear that you will hold elections. So is your demand for resignation unreasonable? Or will this be the right step and the political debate about you will end.'

He said, "Follow the example set by your own

Nahid Islam. If he wanted, he could have served as a minister for a few more days and then joined the NCP. There was a time when Sargis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah had strongly demanded, they too could have taken the ministry. But they have chosen that course of action because they want to do politics. Maybe one day, if they are elected by the people and form a government, they will regain the full responsibility, power and respect of a minister."

Ishraq wrote, 'If you resign, the image of the current government's neutrality will only increase. I still think that if you can gain experience by directly joining politics and doing party and organizational work, you can give something better to the country and the people. And if you retain power, you will have to give special benefits to the people of your party, you have no possibility or power to refrain from this or remain 100% neutral. No one has it. You will break the jackfruit on your head, but everyone else will eat it.'

In the post, he said, "Now you must be saying or thinking,

'You are making yourself a saint by creating public suffering by giving moral support to the movement day after day in order to become an illegal mayor out of greed for power and making yourself a saint and repeating our motto, right? Have I myself been criticized less for doing this? But I had no other choice. It was necessary for the country to explain to the people that you are being led in the wrong direction, and until today the work of stopping me is done by a collective decision. This is understood by people with minimal political sense. But I will say, it was their wrong policy, you were used, Asif Bhuiyan. If the law cannot be accepted by the court, where will the country's reform begin? Then you would criticize as much as you want, and see what I actually do. Now I have to complete the full process."
