on fuel sales within 15 working days. As a result, the Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners' Unity Council has withdrawn its strike program.
Petrol pump strike
The strike was called off at around 1:15 pm on Sunday (May 25).
Earlier in the morning, BPC and the owners' association held a meeting to resolve the crisis. The strike program was suspended after the meeting promised to resolve all the demands within 15 days. In addition, the leaders of the petrol pump owners' association also said that if the other demands are not resolved within two months, the strike will be resumed.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tanker Owners' Unity Council began a strike from 6 am today demanding seven points, including a 7 percent fuel sales commission.
The seven-point demands of petrol pump owners include:
1. Set the fuel oil sales commission at 7 percent and maintain the lease fee of the Roads and Highways Department at its previous level;
2. Pay order should be considered as renewal during the renewal of the lease of the pump connection road;
3. BSTI has abolished the underground tank calibration, deep rod testing fees and registration system;
4. The practice of obtaining licenses from the Department of Environment, BERC, Directorate of Factories and Fire Service has been abolished;
5. Stop selling oil directly from marketing companies without dealerships;
6. Eliminate complications in renewing
licenses of tank truck drivers and issuing new licenses, issue inter-district route permits for all tank trucks;
7. Stopping unauthorized sale of oil in homes or open spaces.
