Jamaat-e-Islami's cancelled registration
as a political party. The Election Commission has been asked to implement the directive immediately. However, the Appellate Division has left the decision on the party's symbol, the scales, to the Election Commission.

A four-judge appeal bench led by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed announced the verdict on Sunday (June 1) morning. The country's highest court gave the verdict, overturning the High Court's verdict in this regard.
Meanwhile, after the verdict, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed his views on social media Facebook.
On Sunday morning, Jamaat Ameer wrote in a post on his verified Facebook page, "Today, a four-member bench led by the Chief Justice declared the unjust verdict of the High Court regarding the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami null and void. I bow down to the Lord and offer my gratitude - Alhamdulillah, Summa Alhamdulillah."
He further wrote, "
The next process is related to the Election Commission. I ask for the help of the Almighty God - may we soon regain our full rights. Amen."
Earlier, on August 1,
2013, the High Court ruled to cancel the registration of Jamaat-e -Islami and declare it illegal. Then, on December 7, 2018, the Election Commission (EC) issued a notification canceling the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Later, Jamaat-e-Islami appealed against the verdict in the High Court.
