Student Alliance program in Chittagong. This information was given in a statement signed by Assistant Secretary of the Metropolitan Jamaat Mohammad Ullah on Friday (May 30), condemning the unwanted incident.
Jamaat
It said, "We witnessed an undesirable and hateful scene at the program of two organizations held in front of the Chittagong Press Club on May 28. Without any need for explanation, we strongly condemn this incident."
"We were not aware in advance about the programs of the two organizations held at the Press Club that day. So there was no question of ordering any of our personnel to go there."
"Jamaat has no involvement in the incident that took place that day. Therefore, Jamaat will not bear any responsibility for this incident. The responsibility for the untoward incident that day lies solely with the concerned persons present there."
The Chittagong Metropolitan Jamaat also
said that the activities of an organization worker named Akash Chowdhury who attended the event without the permission of the higher authorities are extremely condemnable. Jamaat-e-Islami is known nationwide as a disciplined and responsible organization.
"Jamaat-e-Islami is working day and night to establish a welfare state. We are in no way in favor of condoning such activities. Therefore, in light of the central view, Akash Chowdhury has been expelled from the organization for breach of discipline and taking the above issues into consideration."
It is learnt that on Wednesday
(May 28) afternoon, the Shahbagh anti-unity attacked a human chain called by the Democratic Student Alliance in the Chittagong Press Club area to protest the release of Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam and condemn the attack on the student alliance in Rajshahi. At least 15 people were injured in the incident. A picture of a woman being kicked went viral on social media that day.
The name of the young man who was kicked is Akash Chowdhury . He is the son of Nesar Ahad of the municipality area of Satkania upazila of Chittagong. Akash Chowdhury is the ward-level leader of Shibir in Chittagong city. Earlier, he was accused of attacking a Sunni program in Muradpur of the city.
