The leaders of the 12-party alliance made the announcement in a statement sent to the media on Friday (May 30). Alliance spokesperson Shahadat Hossain Selim confirmed the statement this afternoon.

The alliance leaders said that not just one party, but all pro-democracy parties in the country have been clearly talking about holding elections in December for the last nine months. Rather, he himself has tried to delay the issue of elections by taking some fundamentalist, unpopular, anti-liberation war political parties on his side.

The leaders of the 12-party alliance also said,

"On behalf of the 12-party alliance, we have repeatedly said that the elections will be held within June of this year." The country's progressive political parties have repeatedly said this in meetings, rallies, seminars, speeches, statements and meetings with the chief advisors. Dr. Muhammad Yunus may be forgetting that he cannot save his position by twisting words. He cannot even play the drama of resignation. The people of Bangladesh have understood his drama.

The leaders of the alliance said that it is possible to hold elections before December. The issue has also come to the fore in various ways from the country's patriotic army. We want him to fulfill the long-standing demand of the people of the country. He has been given the responsibility of the interim government to do interim work, not a permanent job. Reforms are an ongoing process, elections should be held after minimum reforms. First, the election schedule needs to be announced. The trial of the fascist Awami League will continue along with it. This process has already been ongoing by banning their activities.

The leaders of the 12-party alliance urged the chief advisor to immediately announce the election roadmap and save the country from a major crisis.

The statement was signed by 12-party

alliance chief and Jatiya Party chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, alliance spokesperson Bangladesh LDP chairman Shahadat Hossain Selim, alliance coordinator Bangladesh National Party chairman Syed Ehsanul Huda, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh secretary general Dr. Golam Mohiuddin Ikram, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPAR) vice-president Rashed Pradhan, Labour Party Bangladesh chairman Lion Faruk Rahman, Kalyan Party chairman Shamsuddin Parvez, Islami Oikya Jote chairman Maulana Abdur Rakib, Islamic Party secretary general Abul Kashem, Naya Ganatantrik Party president MA Mannan, Progressive Nationalist Party (PNP) chairman Firoz Md.
