Hefazat joint secretary general demands trial of 'Shahbagis'

Azizul Haque Islamabadi, Joint Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam,

The Hefazat leader has referred

to them as supporters of the 'Shapla massacre'. He made this claim in a statement sent to the media on Wednesday.

In the statement, Azizul Haque said, in 2013, with the help of India, the Islamophobic public enemies in Shahbagh united to destroy the sovereignty and justice of Bangladesh and establish fascism. Hefazat-e-Islam foiled the aggressive plot of hegemonic India around that Shahbagh. As the ultimate price for this, the Hefazat-e-Islam's May 5 Shapla mass gathering was brutally massacred in the dark of night. Those Shahbagis who were supporters of India's players and the Shapla massacre must also be tried today.

Azizul Haque further said that the

Towhidi Janata, inspired by the resistance spirit of Shapla Chattar, played a heroic role in the mass uprising of 24. More than 84 madrasa students and teachers were martyred. The top leader of a major political party has called the country's Islamist and clerical leaders 'fundamentalists' and has ridiculed them in tune with the decade-and-a-half-old Indian and Awami language, which is worrying. If you speak in the Awami and Indian language, you will be rejected by the countrymen.

In addition, the Hefazat leader called

on the students of July to remain vigilant and united against their plots, calling the Shahbagis Islamophobic fascists.
