The ministry held a meeting on Sunday (May 25) to discuss the proposed policy of the Non-Government Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA). The meeting took a policy decision on the examination procedure and age calculation from the date of publication of the registration notification.
An official of the Secondary and Higher Education Department present at the meeting told The Daily Campus, "The NTRCA made several proposals regarding the teacher registration exam. Those proposals were discussed. Policy decisions have been taken on some issues. These will now be sent to the Ministry of Public Administration. After that, the revised policy will be issued after getting the opinion of the Legislative Division of the Ministry of Law."
Asked what kind of changes are coming
in the registration examination system, the official further said, "This issue is very sensitive. NTRCA has recommended selecting candidates through a selection or selection examination. The way the examination will be conducted will be decided in the NTRCA board meeting. If the board thinks of selecting candidates through an examination, then they can do that. However, this does not mean that candidates will be selected only through the MCQ examination. The MCQ and written examination can be completed in one step. As is currently being done in the admission examinations of various universities.
In response to a question about whether
the written test will be completely abolished, the official said, "A large number of candidates participate in the teacher registration test. As a result, it is taking a long time to complete the registration test. NTRCA has made such a proposal to reduce the time. A test system that has been in place for a long time cannot be stopped suddenly. Besides, it is not possible to verify the subject-based skills of the candidates without taking the written test. For this, changes will be made in the test system while keeping the written part.
