Teachers' long march in the capital

Teachers and employees will hold a long march towards the secretariat

demanding the nationalization of private

MPO-listed educational institutions. The program will start in front of the National Press Club at 12 noon today, Wednesday (May 21). This information was given to The Daily Campus on Tuesday (May 20) by Principal Sheikh Kawsar Ahmed, Chairman of the Teachers and Employees Unity Council and President of the Bangladesh Teachers Association (BTA).

Teachers in the capital todaySheikh Kawsar Ahmed said,

'After a long 21 years, an initiative has been taken to increase the festival allowance of teachers and employees. However, only a 25 percent increase has been proposed. This is like making a farce with us. We do not accept this. We want 100 percent festival allowance. At the same time, we want house rent and medical allowance like government employees.'

He further said, " It is possible to implement

all our demands by nationalizing private MPO-listed educational institutions. However, no government has taken any initiative to alleviate the suffering of teachers. Teachers and employees from all over the country will come to Dhaka on Wednesday to achieve our demands. After that, a long march will be held from the Press Club to the Secretariat. If the demands are not met even then, more stringent programs will be announced."
