Wahiduddin Mahmud told reporters after a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the capital on Sunday (May 18). The meeting was presided over by Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Also present at the event were members of the Advisory Council, Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, members of the Planning Commission, and senior secretaries and secretaries of various ministries and other senior officials.

The planning advisor said, the salaries

and allowances of teachers will be increased. In addition, there are 5 to 6 years of arrears in retirement and welfare allowances, these will be settled. For this, the operating expenses will increase in the upcoming budget. The main goal of the government is to make budget management sustainable. He said that we will try to increase our revenue in this budget.

The National Economic Council

(NEC) meeting has approved the Annual Development Program (ADP) with an expenditure of Tk 2.30 trillion for the fiscal year 2025-2026. In addition, the ADP of about Tk 8,599.71 trillion for autonomous bodies or corporations has also been approved.
