Rashid Khan surpasses everyone in the

Rashid Khan, one of the best spinners in world cricket, saw the

complete reverse side of the coin in this year's IPL.

This Afghan star of Gujarat Titans could not do justice to his name with his bowling performance. Although he has been playing IPL regularly since 2017, this is the first time he has finished the season with less than 10 wickets. Rashid set an embarrassing record in Gujarat Titans' exit match from the IPL yesterday (Friday).

Rashid Khan on a shameful record

Shubman Gill-led Gujarat lost the Eliminator match against Mumbai Indians by 20 runs. Where Mumbai scored 228 runs after batting first with Rohit Sharma's storm. Chasing that target, Gujarat was stopped for 208 runs. Rashid was wicketless in 4 overs for them in the first innings. He also gave away 31 runs. In other words, this best leg-spinner could not help the team much in a big match like the Eliminator. On the contrary, he set a record for the highest number of sixes in a season.

Rashid hit two sixes on the way to spending 31 runs today. Rohit Sharma, who played an innings of 81 runs, blew both his deliveries and went over the boundary. And in that, Rashid hit 33 sixes in the ongoing 18th IPL. Until now, the record of hitting the most 31 sixes in a single edition of the tournament was held by Mohammad Siraj. He was relieved of that shame by his Gujarat teammate Rashid.

The Afghan spin all-rounder shared Siraj's

unwanted record in his last match of the IPL league season. Yesterday, he surpassed everyone with two more sixes. Earlier in 2022, Siraj had hit 31 sixes in 15 innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Apart from this, Yuzvendra Chahal in 2024 and Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga in 2022 also hit 30 sixes.

This season, Rashid Khan has had a forgettable season.

He took 9 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 9.34. Which is not at all in keeping with him. He gave away a total of 514 runs. This is only the second time that the Gujarat star has spent 500 runs in the IPL. In the 2023 season, despite giving away 552 runs, Rashid took 27 wickets (17 matches). That's when his team Gujarat became champions in their debut season.
