BNP leader Ishraq Hossain said

that the ongoing program is being relaxed and paused considering the public suffering due to Eid-ul-Azha. He said that if there is no clear message from the government about the oath-taking after the holiday (Eid holiday), they will organize a massive movement with the people of all walks of life in Dhaka South and establish the right to vote for the people of Dhaka.

Ishraq Hossain made these remarks at a program being held at the Dhaka South City Corporation's headquarters, Nagar Bhaban, on Tuesday afternoon. Stating that Nagar Bhaban was under their control for the past two weeks, Ishraq Hossain said, "If I don't take the oath, it won't take me even two minutes to sit on the chair. The people of Dhaka city have repeatedly called me and said, why don't I take the oath myself by going to Shaheed Minar along with the people of Dhaka. Then I said, since we are a systematic political party and believe in systematic state governance, we don't want any bad example to be created."

r Ishraq Hossain said, "This government is now forced to say, if you do not arrange for the swearing-in, then I will take the oath myself along with the voters of Dhaka South and occupy my chair. The people of Dhaka will decide how the city hall will run. No outside advisor or administrator will be allowed to run the city hall. This is our last word, this is our last message."

Ishraq Hossain's supporters have been protesting in front of the City Hall since May 14, protesting against the failure to take oath after he was reinstated as mayor of Dhaka South City under the court's verdict. The next day, City Corporation officials and employees also joined the program in solidarity. On that day, all the gates of the main building of the City Hall were locked. As a result, all types of civic services at the City Hall were closed from May 15.

Participating in this program that has been going on for more than two weeks, Ishraq Hossain said today, 'Since Eid is ahead, keeping in mind the public suffering, we have decided to relax and take a break from the program of blocking or besieging the city building. In the future, whenever there is no clear message from the government regarding the oath-taking after the holiday, we will establish the right of Dhaka residents to vote by organizing a strong movement with the people of all walks of life in Dhaka South.'

Ishraq Hossain expressed regret

for the public suffering caused by the stalling of the City Corporation. He said that the responsibility for this lies entirely with the advisors and officials of the interim government and the Ministry of Local Government. They have directly violated the constitution by not organizing the oath-taking. They have insulted the Supreme Court.

Ishraq warned that no 'external' advisors and administrators would be allowed to enter the city building, saying that it was their decision. He drew the attention of the city corporation officials and employees to implement it.
