Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is ready

to participate in the elections anytime once a level playing field is created, said party Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.

Shafiqur Rahman made the remarks at a 'Meet the Press' event at a hotel in Banani, Dhaka, after 11am on Tuesday. The 'Meet the Press' event was organized to express his position on the Supreme Court's verdict on the registration of Jamaat.

Shafiqur Rahman said, "We mentioned a flexible time from February to April. First we said February, later we made it flexible until April. On the other hand, BNP has made December strict. Now if the election is held in December, what will be our role there? Why December, if even today... I see that it is actually a level ground and now the nation is ready for fair elections, all the organs are ready, we will go to that election. We have no problem going. It is not a matter of December."

The Jamaat Ameer said,

"If these issues are not clarified, there will be no benefit even if elections are held in December or April. Therefore, clarifying these issues is a big thing, a big challenge."

Shafiqur Rahman said, they have demanded that the elections be held in mid-February or by April. The elections should be held before the upcoming Ramadan or, if not possible for some reason, by April. Because, due to the weather, it is not possible to hold the elections after May.

The Jamaat Ameer

demanded that arrangements be made for expatriates to vote. He said, arrangements must be made for expatriates to vote. They are unwilling to make concessions on this issue. Expatriates cannot exercise their civil rights. They have demanded from the Election Commission (EC) to make arrangements so that expatriates can vote. This is not a difficult matter. But they are not seeing any progress from the EC side.

On the 'Meet the Press' program, Shafiqur Rahman spoke about various issues including local government elections, the country's judicial system, Jamaat's registration and party symbol before the national elections.
