Three individuals and three institutions are
receiving the 'National Environment Award-2024' in recognition of their significant contributions to environmental conservation and pollution control, education and promotion, and environmental research and technological innovation.
The nomination was finalized at a meeting of the National Committee formed to award the National Environment Medal held recently at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Md. Mahmudul Islam, a resident of Aziznagar village in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh, has been nominated for the medal at the individual level and 'Snotex Outerwear Limited' of Dhamrai, Dhaka, has been nominated for the medal at the institutional level for his contribution to the environmental conservation and pollution control department.
Mohammad Munir Chowdhury
of Chittagong's CDA residential area has been nominated at the individual level in the environmental education and promotion category. Environmental organization 'Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust' has been nominated at the institutional level in the same category.
In addition, Professor Dr. M. Firoz Ahmed has been nominated for the medal at the individual level for his contribution to environmental research and technological innovation. Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has been nominated at the institutional level in this category.
Each winner will be formally felicitated
at a ceremony on National Environment Day. At that time, they will be presented with two tolas of 22-carat gold worth its market value, a check for Tk 50,000, a crest, and a certificate of appreciation.
