Bazar. One brother died in the
incident that took place in Ward No. 9 of Badarkhali Union of the upazila at around 5:30 pm on Tuesday. Another brother is undergoing treatment at the hospital with injuries.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid (18), son of Saifullah of Chhnuapara area. Rashid's elder brother Md. Tamiz Uddin (25), who was stabbed, is undergoing treatment at the District Sadar Hospital.
Another brother of the victims,
Mohammad Ramis Uddin, said that Rashid and Tamiz were sleeping at their house after having lunch on Tuesday. Around 4:30 pm, four to five young men, including Sayem, son of local Abul Bashar, started calling them. At one point, Tamiz opened the door. As soon as the door was opened, Sayem inserted a knife into Tamiz's stomach. Later, he entered the house and stabbed Rashid, who was sleeping on the bed, in the chest and stomach. After that, the young men, including Sayem, fled from there.
Abdur Rashid died while locals were taking his two brothers to the hospital. Later, Tamiz Uddin was taken to the Upazila Health Complex in a life-threatening condition. When his condition deteriorated there, the doctors referred him to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment at the District Sadar Hospital.
Locals said that Rashid had an argument
with Sayem over drinking alcohol last Monday night. At one point, Rashid killed six youths from the house where Sayem was staying and fled. The stabbing incident took place on Tuesday afternoon as a result of this incident.

Shafiqul Islam said, "Upon receiving the news, the police inspected the scene. Rashid's body was recovered and sent to the District Sadar Hospital for autopsy after the post-mortem report. The police have been working to arrest the killer Sayem."
