. Virat Kohli's RCB won their first IPL title by defeating Punjab in a thrilling final in Ahmedabad yesterday.
RCB entered the playoffs from number two in the league table. They won the first qualifier and got a direct ticket to the final. RCB won the title by defeating Punjab Kings in the final. Punjab Kings had to be satisfied with being runners-up like this time. RCB became the IPL champion for the first time in the 18th season.
IPL is not just about cricket on the field, it is also a huge financial platform. The title of this tournament carries a huge prize money, which can change the fate of the entire team, the players and even the coaching staff.
Bangalore won a prize money
of Rs 20 crore as champions. Punjab Kings won Rs 12.5 crore as runners-up. This amount has remained unchanged since 2022.
However, Rajasthan Royals, who won the first IPL in 2008, received only 4.8 crore rupees. So now a comparatively higher amount of money is being given as prize money.
Chennai Super Kings won the Fair Play Award this season. They were given a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. Arun Jaitley Stadium received Rs 50 lakh for the best ground and pitch.
Bengaluru, batting first after
losing the toss at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, posted a mammoth 190 for 9. Virat Kohli top-scored with 43 runs.
Despite a breathless chase, Punjab Kings could not score more than 184 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. They lost by just 6 runs.
Shashank Singh played a devastating knock of 61 runs off 30 balls, hitting three fours and six sixes, but could not give the team a win.
