The formation and approval of these committees was given in a letter signed by city BNP president Ershad Ullah and general secretary Nazimur Rahman on Tuesday night.

A 31-member committee has been formed in each ward. The Metropolitan BNP has announced a new convening committee within 6 months of dissolving the previous committee.

Chittagong City BNP President Ershad Ullah said, "Only those who were active in the movement and struggle and made sacrifices have been evaluated in the new committee. The new leadership will play a role in restoring the organization's dynamism and further strengthening the party at the grassroots."

Rahman said, "By forming these committees, we have further strengthened the organizational foundation of BNP in Chittagong. The party will now be more united and well-organized with a combination of dedicated, experienced and young leaders and activists."

Earlier, on December 3 last year, the Metropolitan BNP declared the dissolution of 15 police stations and 43 ward committees in Chittagong Metropolitan City as their organizational terms had expired.
