A court in Chittagong has sentenced a madrasa teacher

life imprisonment for sexually abusing

six child students. In the same verdict, the court also ordered him to pay a fine of Tk 5 lakh. Judge Ferdous Ara of Chittagong's Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal-7 gave the verdict in the presence of the accused on Wednesday.

The convicted accused is named Nazim Uddin (41). He was the director and teacher of Rahmania Tahfizul Quran Academy in the alley next to Mecca Hotel in Panchlaish, Chittagong city. His home is in Purba Dhurong village of Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong.

According to the case source,

Nazim Uddin raped 6 students of the madrasa multiple times by forcibly intimidating them from August 15, 2019 to March 1, 2021. On March 4, 2021, the police conducted a raid on the madrasa after receiving a complaint from the elder brother of one of the affected students. At that time, five more students filed the same complaint with the police. Then, the elder brother of the student filed a case against Nazim Uddin at the Panchlaish police station in the city. The police arrested Nazim. Nazim confessed to the crime and gave a statement in court.

Tribunal bench assistant Kafil Uddin said

that after the testimony and arguments, the court gave the verdict on Wednesday on the suppression of violence against women and children. A total of 11 people testified in the case for the state. Two people testified in defense of the accused.
