The Ministry of Local Government has dismissed

Chadru Shamim Swapan, the panel chairman of Khattamadhabpara Union No. 1 in Hakimpur Upazila, on charges of embezzling rice from the poor in Hili, Dinajpur.

Hakimpur Upazila Executive Officer Amit Roy confirmed receiving a signed letter from Dinajpur Deputy Secretary of the Local Government Ministry Riaz Uddin on Wednesday.

He said, some local beneficiaries

complained about the distribution of 18 metric tons of VGF rice allocated by the government on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Later, an investigation was conducted based on that complaint and the truth was found. Later, when the investigation report was sent to the Ministry of Local Government, he was relieved of his duties on Wednesday. Along with this, the Hakimpur Upazila Primary Education Officer has been appointed as the administrator of the union.

When asked whether any legal action will

be taken against the panel chairman, he further said, "Initially, panel chairman Chadrul Shamim Swapan has been continued. Later, if any instructions are received from the Ministry of Local Government to take any action, then legal action will be taken."
